“Going Green”

“Going green” has become more than a trend over the past few years. Residents and businesses all over the country have made a more concerted effort to help the environment by matching a percentage of their electricity use with renewable energy.

Customers that want to invest in alternative energy have more choices than ever. Solar, Wind, Biomass, Hydrogen, Geothermal, Ocean and Hydropower are replenishable resources that are replacing coal, oil and natural gas. These alternative sources currently account for almost 1/5 of all electric consumption in the world, with no signs of slowing down.

Understanding, with the help of your energy consultant, not only what type of energy product you are looking for but what you want the product to accomplish for your company is important. Your consultant can also educate you on the providers that offer these products in your area as well as if your state has a Renewable Energy Credits program.

Commercial customers can benefit through renewable power products. Some advantages of using green energy are:

  • environmental stewardship

  • public image

  • customer loyalty

  • employee pride

  • power portfolio management

  • power reliability.

If you want to improve or achieve at least one of these benefits then using a green energy product might be for you.

We supply our residential customers in select electric distribution company service areas with renewable wind energy. This renewable wind power is generated by wind turbines, located on wind farms within specific control areas. Renewable energy provided to our residential customers is generated from our wind farms located in the PJM territory.

The average U.S. household uses about 10,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. Every purchase of renewable energy helps support renewable electricity production and development in the local power grid. The purchase may have other local and global environmental benefits such as reducing global climate change and regional air pollution.
